INSULATED RENDER
EXTERNAL WALL INSULATION (EWI)

In general EWI systems consist of insulated panels that are fixed to the external masonry of a property.
The addition of the insulation reduces heat loss in winter months and controls heat gain over the summer period, therefore resulting in a more comfortable and efficient living environment all year round.

There are various types of insulation that can be used including expanded polystyrene (EPS), mineral wool and phenolic board and once fixed to walls they are protected and decorated with a silicone render layer.

The way in which the silicone finish is manufactured means it can be mixed to closely match all of our Monocouche XF colours, RAL codes and even some well know paint manufacturer colour titles.

From a consumer point of view EWI can reduce heating costs considerably and, by putting the insulation on the outside of the wall, there is no loss of internal living space.

We have worked in partnership with several industry leading insulated render (EWI) system manufacturers for many years and are certified to offer their systems on a fully warrantied turnkey supply and install basis.

KEY SYSTEM BENEFITS

EXAMPLES OF INSULATED (EWI) RENDER

INSULATING AN EXISTING PROPERTY TO MEET BUILDING REGULATIONS

If you wish to insulate your existing property to achieve current building regulation covered in Part L the standards for energy performance for new and existing homes we would need to carry out a U value calculation based on how the walls of the property have been constructed. This calculation would also consider any condensation risk.

The results of the U Value calculation and condensation assessment would then dictate how thick the insulation that we would have to fix to your property would have to be.

If you want to take advantage of the government’s recent 0% VAT on EWI installation initiative the insulation thickness and performance would need to meet these regulations.

INSULATING TO IMPROVE APPEARANCE WITH THE ADDED BENEFIT OF IMPROVED THERMAL PERFORMANCE

If you wish to insulate your existing property to improve its appearance and enjoy the inherent benefits of improved thermal performance, we are able to install insulation panels as thin as 30mm with a total rendered system thickness of circa 40mm.

We would still suggest that we carried out a U value calculation in the most part to understand if there is any condensation risk

ENABLING WORK CONSIDERATIONS

If you are going to be adding the thickness of an EWI system to the exterior of your home the functional external elements such as window cills, pipework, electrical cabling and in some cases roof overhangs may need to be adapted slightly to incorporate and protect the new insulated render going forward.

We can supply and install colour matching (to existing) powder coated aluminium over cill extensions to create the required overhang at openings and an electrician and plumber can extend anything necessary within the render area.
A roofer can extend the roof tiles generally on the gable walls if required.

If there is a need for any of the above adaptions this would be picked up during our initial survey.
